Viewing and photographing the aurora borealis is the main emphasis of this tour.

Over five nights, we will have the opportunity to see the incredibly dark northern skies as well as the famed aurora. Our first and last nights of viewing will be at a specially selected lodge far from the lights of Fairbanks. This site provides an incredible 270° view to the north with plenty of room inside to set up gear or relax and sip a hot drink between auroral displays. The remaining three nights of viewing will be from our lodging at the Chena Hot
Springs Resort, where you can watch the northern lights from the resort grounds.

The University of Alaska Museum is an ideal starting point for our visit to Alaska. The museum is divided into regional sections, each containing detailed information about the culture, history, and natural history of each of the five major regions in Alaska.

Referred to as "a window on space over the western Arctic," Poker Flat Research Range is the world’s largest overland rocket range. The only high-altitude rocket range in the US, it offers many advantages to researchers, such as overflight and landing rights on a large land area, a million-acre recovery zone, and complete meteorological support. There are five launch pads, including one equipped with a movable launcher enclosure, which is used as protection from severe winter weather. More than 236 large high-altitude sounding rockets have been launched since the facility was established. Join us on a behind-the-scenes tour of this rocket range.

Explore the aurora from various perspectives. Our exclusive enrichment lectures will provide scientific explanations of the auroral phenomenon, the Sun-Earth connection, and how to predict and photograph displays.
