Spain is a
land of diversity, excellent cuisine,
vibrant culture, amazing prehistory, and
great weather. TravelQuest International has
combined all these features into a very
special 10-day tour, September 25 - October
4, 2005, to coincide with the October 3rd
annular eclipse of the Sun.
Led by Spanish historian and wine and food
expert César Higueras, and by Sky &
Telescope magazine associate editor Paul
Deans, we will explore several of Spain's
finest prehistoric cave-art sites;
visit
wonderfully preserved medieval villages like Toledo, Santillana
del Mar, and Avila; |
|
|
|
|
| |
visit
famous museums; and experience the October
3rd annular eclipse from Madrid, all the while
sampling northern and central Spain's finest
regional food and wines.
A highlight of the trip will be the 4-minute-long
annular solar eclipse. According to eclipse
meteorologist Jay Anderson, "In early October,
Madrid typically receives 64% of the maximum
possible hours of sunshine. On eclipse day the
chance of clear skies or scattered cloud is 63% with
only a 10% chance of overcast. Madrid is sunnier
than most other locations along the Iberian eclipse
track, making it a very promising location from
which to see the spectacle."
This program will be limited to no more than 26
travelers, so make your reservation early. |
